This one has been around in our family for a long time. Both Grandma Buck and my dad made this recipe alot when I was growing up. They always made it with hot dogs instead of ring bologna. I still toss in a few hot dogs but I prefer the ring bologna instead. When I was real young I didn’t particularly like the way those white, bumpy, blobs of dumplings looked so I wouldn’t eat them. Grandma always whipped up a batch of mashed potatoes for me instead. Even though I absolutely love these dumplings now, I still whip up a batch of mashed potatoes whenever I make this dish – just because that’s the way Grandma did it!
